Tennis camp

I went to tennis camp this week. There we warm up and do drills for about 2 hours. Then we play games like 4 square and cash 5. Last Monday was my first day. I go to Zoey’s sea camp for an hour, then go tennis camp, then go back to sea camp for another hour.

Tomorrow Zoey is putting on a play for sea camp. I have to help her practice. See ya.

band

This year I am going to be in band. I am going to play the oboe. That’s cool because there’s only one oboe in the whole band. This is what the oboe looks  like.

Isn’t it cool!?!

more sea camp

This week we are doing stuff differently at sea camp.We had softball as one of the sports. We had six stations instead of five. This week is the last week of sea camp and next week I am going to tennis lessons. Back to sea camp.this week we are going to put on a play for our parents. I got a big part. There weren’t many big girl parts and one of my friends didn’t want a boy part, so I traded with her. We are doing a play called,” America’s Tallest Tale”.I am playing John Henry and I have just about memorized.

Sea camp has been really fun and I wish I could do it next year, but I will be too old.

Hope you have a good summer!

Fathers day

For father’s day, we got our dad a new phone. His old one kept dying and you couldn’t talk on it for more than 2 seconds without it charging. Now we got him a pretty good phone. I’m jealous of how good it is. It’s a samsung Impression. It’s awesome. And even better, he gets free internet for the first few months. Yeah it’s a billion times better than mine. Anyways we got him a new phone, made him breakfast in bed, cleaned the living room and yard, got burrito’s and taco’s and went to the park to eat them. Then we came home and ate some watermelon. All of this in 100 degree weather. Well, Happy Late Fathers Day.

cool backgrounds

Thanks to dad, we have  new backgrounds. If you look on the screen, somewhere you should see a Theme Switcher. The themes I picked out are the Oriental and My Diary.

Instruments

As you know, I play the baritone and am awesome at it, but Zoey is going to band next year too. She tried out for oboe and flute. Oboe as her first choice and flute as her backup. Oboe is unique because only one person gets to play it. You also have a double reed instead of a regular one. You get to learn how to make your own reed. The bad part is that it cost’s 50$ dollars a month for reeds. The school provides an oboe like it does my baritone so we don’t need to worry about buying a 3,000$ instrument, but we do need to worry about zoey’s practice the first couple of days.

RECOMMENDED READING LIST (for ages 10-14)

Rick Riordan books are now some of my favorites. I got one in a bookstore during Zoey’s softball tournament. It was awesome. I read it in 2 days and ordered the rest of the series. The first book is called The Lightning Thief. the series has a lot of mythology and action.

Jerry Spinelli’s series of 2 is also great. They are called Stargirl and Love,Stargirl. I got started on it for school and liked the first one then I ordered it online also.

Brian Jacques’s redwall series Is a little long for 10 year olds but is still terrific. They have to many books for me to name, but one of my favorites is Martin The Warrior.

S.E.A. Camp

This summer, I am going to a day camp sort of thing at the local high school called S.E.A. Camp. It lasts for four weeks starting last week from 8am-1 pm, Monday – Thursday. I (mostly) do different things every week, and they’re usually pretty fun. Nathan started coming to help this Monday.  We do 5 activities every day that are the same for a week, then we switch them out and have different activities the next week. So far we have done activities like Theater, Spanish, Tennis, Nutritional Snack Making, Ultimate Games, art, Frisbee Golf, and Volleyball.   Theater and Spanish last all four weeks, but the rest only last one.

Theater is one of my favorite activities. We played a very fun game called “Wa”(which consists of a bunch of kids yelling “WAAAAAAAAA!”) that is a little too complicated to explain right now.We also did something called a 10 second fairy tale where we acted out a fairy tale as fast as we could and whichever team got the fastest time won cupcakes. my team got 4th place using Peter Pan in 27 seconds behind a tie of 24 and winner at 23.

More updates and rules of Wa coming up soon.

Braces

I’ve had braces for a while and Alli wanted me to get pink and purple braces. I figured its the summer and no one would see me so I told her I would. Here’s a picture.

Pink and Purple (for Alli)

I was wrong about the no one seeing me thing. I volunteered to help out at the month long camp Zoey was in. There were at least 200 kids there. Some of them were my friends but all of were at least a year younger than me.

I noticed something. If you put Nothing On TV’s initials NOTV and put a space in the middle, It spells NO TV.

band

Sup guys. It’s been a while since my last blog post, sorry about that but I’m going to put a lot of them on this summer. This one’s about band camp. Around my birthday I had my Grandparents send me money for the 425$ band camp. I know, how am I going to get 425$ by the start of summer when I only get 5$ a week. But I had a plan. Maybe if I could get 50$ from each of my 8 Grandparents I could get the rest my self.

So I called my Grandparents and asked them for some money as my birthday present. The good news, some sent 200 dollars so I didn’t even have to ask the other grand parents. It was like a miracle that I had any money left over, even more 200$. So I’d like to say thanks to all my Grandparents. Thank you.

Now about the actual band camp. These are the only few things we had to pack.

Instrument in working order

reeds, neck straps, valve oil, etc

notebook with paper for your class

blanket and sheets- it’s cold in the dorms at night

pillow and case, soup, wash clothes, and towels

casual clothes for 5 days and night’s

nice clothes- shirt tie and slackes

swimsuit

money

cellphones

I was going the band camp with my best friend. Since we were staying with each other we had to register together. I just stayed the night with him the night before. Just imagine 2 times as many clothes and stuff and a huge baritone in there tiny car. It was hard.

We had a bunch of lessons and pizza and soda and time just being bored. While being bored I made this out of pokerchips.

Nathan's poker chip art

We had activities at night like swimming, basket ball, or special ones some times, like Band camp olympics. We had the messiest time ever. The first event was the mouthwash dash. We had to have our coach pour mouthwash into our mouths, run over to the bucket , and spit it all out. It tasted like a mix between licorice and grapefruit. We ended up winning that one. We also did stuff like EGG DODGEBALL, KETCHUP MUSTARD RELISH AND CANNED BLUEBERRY TWISTER, PANCAKE BATTER RELAY ,and 2LITTER DIET COKE CHUG.

Then we get to friday. It was time for our concert. We played the four songs that we learned for our concert. In 5 days we learned 4 songs and played them better than the high school. We were the honor band so we were the best in the camp. We tried out to see who would be what chair in what band. I got first chair in the honors band. Back to the concert. we played songs where baritones had solo’s and did awesome. At the end of the concert she gave rewards. I got the most out standing brass performer in the honors band. I will put the picture up here out of the newspaper I’m going to be in. Now I have to go, it’s bedtime.
